Why I'd hand it to you
Robert Pirsig tells the story of a motorcycle trip across America with his son Chris, interrupted by long philosophical talks about what he calls Quality, and about the narrator's own past breakdown. It is part road trip, part father-son story and part philosophy class. Many readers find it profound. Honest warning: the philosophical sections are long and dense, and you need patience to follow the arguments, which some readers abandon halfway. As Pirsig himself admits, it has little to do with Zen Buddhism. If you enjoy big ideas wrapped in a story, it can stay with you for years.
