Why I'd hand it to you
Barack Obama covers his early life, his rise in politics and his first term as president, ending with the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. He goes into the financial crisis and the fight over health care in real detail, and he is more reflective about his doubts and mistakes than many political memoirs. It is well written. It is also very long, more than seven hundred pages, and it is only the first volume. Readers who disagree with his politics will find it a defense of his record. For readers of history and presidential memoirs, it is a substantial, thoughtful account.
