Why I'd hand it to you
Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson argue that America has made it too hard to build the things people need: housing, transit, clean energy, even new science. They blame layers of rules and process that both parties helped create, and they call for a politics that measures success by what actually gets built. It is short and readable, and it has shaped a lot of current policy debate. One limit: the diagnosis is stronger than the roadmap, and it is written mostly to readers on the center-left, so conservatives may find it covers ground they have argued for years. Either way, it is a useful conversation starter.
