Why I'd hand it to you
Jim Collins and his research team studied companies that made a lasting jump from ordinary results to outstanding ones and compared them to similar companies that didn't. He came away with ideas that still get quoted in boardrooms: humble but determined leaders, getting the right people on the bus, and focusing on what you can be best at. It is clear and practical for leaders of companies, churches and nonprofits. The awkward footnote is that several of his great companies, like Circuit City and Fannie Mae, later stumbled or collapsed. Take the principles, and hold the research claims a bit more loosely.
