Why I'd hand it to you
Steve Brusatte, a paleontologist, tells the whole story of the dinosaurs, from their small beginnings through their long reign to the asteroid that ended it. He brings in recent discoveries, including feathered dinosaurs and new thinking about bird evolution, and shows what fieldwork actually looks like. If you were a dinosaur kid, this is for you. The caveat: there are a lot of species names and scientist names, and the field anecdotes about colleagues can feel like inside stories. Readers looking for a slim overview may want something shorter. For curious adults, though, it is a lively, up-to-date guide.
