Why I'd hand it to you
Matthew Perry tells the story of his rise to fame on Friends and the addiction that shadowed him for decades: alcohol, painkillers, rehab after rehab, and a near-fatal medical crisis. He is honest, self-deprecating and often funny, and the book reads like he is talking to you. His death in 2023 makes it harder to read now. Fair warning: the addiction details are graphic, the timeline jumps around, and there are jabs at others, one of which he later said he regretted. For anyone who loves someone with an addiction, it is a sobering look at how hard recovery can be.
