Why I'd hand it to you
Walter Isaacson shadowed Elon Musk for about two years and covers his difficult childhood in South Africa, his early companies, Tesla, SpaceX and the purchase of Twitter. The portrait shows both sides: the drive that makes impossible things happen and the toll it takes on the people around him. It is long but moves quickly. My caveat is that some critics felt Isaacson was too close to his subject, and others thought he was too hard on him. Your view of Musk going in will color how you read it. For understanding how he works, it is a detailed look.
