Why I'd hand it to you
Matthew McConaughey pulls from decades of journals to tell stories from his Texas childhood, his Hollywood career and his travels, along with the lessons he has taken from them. He calls life's go-ahead moments greenlights and talks about how to catch more of them. It is funny, odd and full of personality. If you want a traditional memoir, though, this isn't it. It is scattered, includes poems and bumper-sticker sayings, and some of the philosophy is thinner than it sounds. Many people enjoy it most on audio, read by McConaughey himself, which suits the style.
