Why I'd hand it to you
Sarah Young wrote these daily devotions as brief messages from Jesus to the reader, in the first person, paired with Bible verses. The tone is gentle and reassuring, and it has been a comfort to a great many people in hard seasons. It is a common gift for that reason. I should be upfront about the main concern: writing in Jesus's voice troubles a number of pastors and theologians, who worry it blurs the line between Scripture and personal reflection. If you use it, read it as one woman's devotional writing, with your Bible open beside it, not as the words of Christ.
— Matt Jordan
